Projects Seeking Partners

NOTE:  We are pleased to provide information on these developing eye care and blindness prevention projects that are seeking partners and that may be of interest to our members and to Rotarians in general.  Posting of these projects does not entail an "endorsement or support" of the project by the Rotarian Action Group for Blindness Prevention and the information is provided herewith  for information purposes only.

Policy on Endorsements (December 2006)

The Rotarian Action Group for Blindness Prevention shall not "officially endorse, sponsor or support" any product, project or initiative presented to the Action Group by an active member of the Action Group or other Rotarian and shall not approve the use of the Action Group Name and/or logo in conjunction with any such endeavor in advertising, promotional material, or other documents (including various media).  These endeavors shall be posted on the Action Group web site on either the "Projects Seeking Partners" page or the "Developing Initiatives" page for interested individuals to pursue on their own with a disclaimer on each page clearly stating that the endeavor is not officially endorsed, sponsored or supported by the Action Group and that the posting of the endeavor is for information purposes only.  (Adopted 12/13/06 by the Executive Committee)

Four Mobile Eye Vans:  Rotary District 3030 under the Direction of District Avoidable Blindness Chair, Dr. Umesh Rewanwar is seeking to submit a matching grant for four Rotary Mobile Eye Vans.  He is looking for partners willing to commit both club dollars as well as District DDF in order to submit a Rotary Foundation Matching Grant.  They are in need of approximately $30,000 (US$). If they cannot find partners to fund the full amount they are willing to fund two vans rather than four.  For more information please contact Dr. Rewanwar at rewanwarumesh@rediffmail.com

Community Eye Care and Research Center The "Community Eye Care and  Research Center" was established in August 2000 as an eye care service organization in Rangpur, a district in northern Bangladesh.  Their Current Objective:  To partner with Rotary clubs and districts to fund and submit a Rotary Foundation Matching Grant to provide free cataract surgeries for those in need.  Complete details are in their brochure (below) and you can visit their web site  http://www.cerc.org.  For additional information and to become involved in this TRF MG project, please contact the Executive Director, Dr. Khairul Islam at cecrc@tistaonline.com
